Our Story
How it began
Their first date was at Memorial Park in Provo, with sidewalk chalk and the mountains above them. Patrick taught Thea a little economics and multivariable calculus, and then Thea taught him some physics. Together they drew the Y on the mountain from where they sat, and then took pictures of the beautiful sunset and clouds. That evening set the shape of everything that followed. They learned side by side, loving the world around them, and simply being present together.
Their relationship has been filled with study and wonder, like science and math, stargazing and temple worship, late nights and steady support. They share a commitment to God and a love for the beauty of creation through temple worship, service, and a wonder for the world around them. They’ve become best friends and partners, ready to serve side by side through the eternities.
After several months, Patrick brought Thea back to that same park where it began. He’d covered the sidewalk with chalk drawings of their story, including stars and school, the temple, and the mountain they first drew together. They walked slowly, admiring each piece and reflecting on their journey side by side so far. Then Patrick knelt and asked Thea to be side by side with him throughout the eternities. She said, “A thousand times yes!”
